“Do you know what a car crash is?”
This Saturday is the end of an era for one of the few remaining good music television shows, Popworld - Simon Amstell and Miquit Oliver are leaving the show for pastures new. Capturing an audience of teens, hungover students, and twenty-somethings (like myself) with their irreverant and sarcastic look at music (described by Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant as being like Smash Hits magazine on the television) they will be sorely missed.
Who could forget interview gold like Cooking With Alison Goldfrapp, Richard and Trudy the Popworld horses interviewing The Strokes, the Rachel “What’s the best thing about being a Jew?” Stevens interview, the Natalie Imbruglia “too beautiful” interview and Simon’s existential angst during his last Franz Ferdinand Big Ones interview?
Simon and Miquita we salute you.
