Estate Agents aren’t your friends
Having not watched Whistleblower - Estate Agents yet I should really reserve judgement but it really comes as no surprise to hear that estate agents regularly rip-off home buyers / sellers. Just looking at Foxton’s ubiquitous fleet of branded Minis and faux-bar decorated branches - all bought by the massive profits in being middle-men - would be enough to convince me that they wouldn’t have my best interests at heart.
The rationale for an agent to not be so concerned with getting as good a deal for a seller is explained in Freakonomics (search for ‘quintessential’ to find the relevant part) - a good read as is the rest of the book.
