Downloading emulators of classic 8-bit
Downloading emulators of classic 8-bit computers is not a good indication of a successful revision program, but it’s oh so cool. I haven’t played Repton 3 for years…
Rasey leant me a Rhythm Dhol Bass album last week - I only wanted to borrow it to test out track six, the woofer excursion test (read offensive bass), at home on my phat sub. On Wednesday I made Sean listen to it on his ICE and he immediately asked me for a copy. And now it looks like that track is going to make it all the way round the Bournemouth cruising scene. All I need to do is get that track which samples (and absolutely pushes) the Knightrider bassline… that really is PHAT.

Who’d help organise a sci-fi
Who’d help organise a sci-fi convention? I’m working behind the scenes this year on the technical crew and the meeting last night confirmed my belief that I’ll be spending a weekend in a stuffy box doing sound and light stuff. It should be a bit like working on Crew, but much easier. Should be good fun. And at least I won’t have to deal with punters.
I learnt the two phase simplex method today (which is incredibly time consuming). I think I’m finally getting the hang of this Operations Research lark, which can only be good considering the impending exams. And during my studies today, I learnt that daydreaming about girls does not make for a productive revision session.
When you say it’s gonna happen “now”
Well, when exactly do you mean?
See I’ve already waited too long
On the subject of revision, I confirmed today that I don’t do revision at Uni. It’s actually more like learning. No, it’s exactly like learning (of whole modules over a very short period of time). This what happens if you don’t pay attention in lectures or even go to them. You’ve been warned kids.
Another discovery made today is that VNC is incredibly easy to install and configure under Linux. I managed it within 5 minutes. Shame my Dad went and broke the install an hour later and is, as I type, reinstalling it.
Also this is one of the best bookcovers I’ve ever seen.

Today has been a day
Today has been a day of much film watching, hangover recovery and stitching my memory of last night back together. After talking over the events it would appear that I: shouted a lot at two passing farmers, had my glasses stolen, somehow got a bruise on my right arm and watched Scott chase after a rabbit while laughing too much to be of any assistance. Starting the evening by necking two pints in under fifteen minutes was possibly a bad idea…
In an attempt to use up all the left over free cinema tickets I did my part and watched The Others and Legally Blonde. Then, as I’d not had enough we went back home and watched Warlock: The Armageddon.
It’s a shame they were all poor films.

Paul finally left my house
Paul finally left my house circa 10am this morning, after spending the night asleep on the horribly uncomfortable lounge furniture. He claimed to be ’still pisshed’. This can only confirm that it was, indeed, a good night.
And Paul do you remember shouting at those farmers???

The OFU Christmas dinner was good - much food was eaten and much alcahol was drunk. However, the net effect of this is that Paul has passed out in my lounge. More later today.

After staying up until 6am
After staying up until 6am yesterday morning completing a coursework assignment I think there’s something to be said about better time management but I can’t think of it.
Continuing the bad music topic from yesterday, my all-time worse CD purchase has to be Smash Hits ‘95 with such choons as Rednex - Cotton Eyed Joe, PJ & Ducan - Our Radio Rocks, Zig & Zag - Them Girls Them Girls and who could forget the timeless classic: Crocodile Shoes by Jimmy Nail.
And Natalie Portman? She’s doesn’t even come close.

Browsing through my CD collection
Browsing through my CD collection last night, I began to realise the amount of dreadful albums I actually own.
Two Spice Girls albums. Shite.
Geri Halliwell - Schizophonic. Arse.
A Cyndi Lauper album. What was I thinking?
Thankfully, since these purchases many moons ago someone has knocked some sense into me. I now know that Bob The Builder rocks.
And by the way, I’m currently back home in Bournemouth revising. Fun. Fun. Fun.

“I nodded, I’d certainly been there more than once.”
Sound familiar? I’ve been to that dark place and don’t wish to return. Ever. This should be required reading for some people.
